The Benefits of Having Certified Dog Trainers Managing Groups at Dog Daycare

Dog day school can be an excellent option for dogs. However, entrusting your dog's care to just anyone is not always the best idea. Hiring certified dog trainers to manage groups at dog daycare facilities is beneficial for both dogs and their owners. Did you know that Dogma is the only facility ran and operated by certified dog trainers? In this blog post, we'll explore the benefits of having certified dog trainers managing groups at dog daycare and share why they matter to us.

Recognized Certifications for Dog Trainers

Unfortunately, dog training and dog daycare facilities are unregulated. This means that there are no standards for the care and training of the dogs, and anyone can call themselves a dog trainer. We often see daycare facilities that call their team trainers when they’ve only done a short training program offered by the company, or a third-party group that provides them only the basic knowledge for their job. Moreover, many of these programs are focused on punishment and result in unnecessary stress for both the dogs and team.

When it comes to certified dog trainers, several reputable organizations offer recognized certifications. These certifications are earned through rigorous training and evaluation, ensuring that trainers possess a comprehensive understanding of canine behaviour, training techniques, and ethical practices. These programs ensure trainers have met specific standards and are committed to ongoing professional development.

Did you know that every member of our team goes through Dogma Academy’s DCP (Dogma Certified Professional) program that covers a wide range of training basics as well as further knowledge of how dogs learn, canine communication, first aid, and more. Following DCP, team has the option to continue their education to become professional dog trainers and earn their DDT (Dogma Dog Trainer), CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed), DCBC (Dogma Certified Behaviour Consultant) certifications and more.

This education is all provided by Dogma and is a requirement for team to teach group classes, private training, and the majority of our day school programs. It takes team at least 6 months after their initial DCP certification to earn their DDT, so it’s a comprehensive program that ensures they have the knowledge and experience to make the best choices for your dog.

Because of these certifications, you can trust that our trainers have the knowledge and skills necessary to address a wide range of behavioural issues, guide you through training challenges, and provide effective, humane, and evidence-based training methods.

Benefits of Having Certified Dog Trainers Managing Groups

Enhanced Safety: Certified dog trainers have a thorough understanding of dog behaviour and can identify potential hazards before they become an issue. They know how to effectively manage and supervise dogs to minimize the risk of injury or harm to themselves, other dogs, or fellow team.

Better Training: Certified dog trainers can provide training to dogs during their daycare stay, helping them develop good behaviours and habits. This training can include obedience, socialization, and behavioural modification training.

Improved Socialization: A certified dog trainer can help facilitate positive socialization experiences for dogs. They can monitor the interactions between dogs, intervene when necessary, and teach dogs how to interact appropriately with other dogs and humans. Their extended knowledge ensures they recognize canine communication before conflict occurs or understand when a dog may be feeling unsure and need additional support.

Tailored Activities: Certified dog trainers can create and oversee activities that are tailored to each dog's needs and abilities. This ensures that every dog gets the physical and mental stimulation they require, which helps reduce anxiety and prevents destructive behaviour.

Peace of Mind: Knowing that your dog is in the hands of a certified professional can give you peace of mind. You can rest assured knowing that your dog is safe, happy, and receiving the care they need to thrive.

The benefits of having certified dog trainers managing groups at dog daycare are numerous. From enhanced safety and better training to improved socialization and tailored activities, certified dog trainers provide valuable services that benefit both dogs and their owners. When choosing a dog care facility, consider one that employs certified dog trainers to manage their groups. This will ensure that your pup receives the highest quality care and attention they deserve, and that their behaviour will improve while they are there or can determine if it’s not the right fit for your dog.

This is an area that we won’t compromise on and has become the backbone of the Dogma Difference. A lack of knowledge in dog behaviour, training, and communication can result in stress, behavioural concerns, and serious injuries. It’s a big investment that benefits both the dogs and our team and ensures you can better enjoy time with your dog.
